Edilma Piedrahita is the leader of Los Guacharos – our favourite producer group in Colombia, and the source of many of our most treasured profiles. Edilma is a great leader. Her effusive energy has buoyed us many times in the back of pickup trucks on long drives and we love her for her full-hearted commitment to her community.

Edilma shares our belief that steps towards sustainable production are essential for the future of coffee. This coffee is a mix of Caturra and Tabi lots. A small number of kilos of Edilma’s first Geisha harvest also contributed to the lot (too small for separation, this was the best way to enjoy it!)

We were super happy to be able to visit with Edilma and the Guacharos producers in June this year. And happier still to be able to undertake some fermentation experiments with Edilma especially. This lot is a traditional washed process – the lot is floated to remove over and under ripe cherrries, then depulped prior to a 42 hour fermentation in tanks, without water.

Pricing transparency: we paid $2,800,000 pesos per carga of parchment.
